Kieran Hanrahan, presenter of RTÉ Radio's flagship traditional music programme 'Céilí House', has confirmed that he will launch the 2012 Munster Fleadh Cheoil in Dungarvan. Kieran, popular presenter of the weekly Saturday night 'Céilí House' has hosted radio programmes for the Irish national broadcaster since 1991. His interest in traditional music goes back to his early teenage years when he started playing the tenor banjo at the age of fourteen. Within four years, he won the All-Ireland banjo championship. In the years since, Kierean founded and played with several highly acclaimed traditional groups - including Inchiquin, Stockton's Wing and the Templehouse Céilí Band, and has recorded many albums. He also played on three film soundtracks with the Chieftains, and co-arranged and performed the traditional music in the Jim Sheridan movie, 'The Field'.  Since 1991 Kieran is known widely as the traditional music broadcaster with RTÉ radio, having presented such shows as 'The Fleadh Club', 'Both Sides Now' and currently, the hugely popular 'Ceili House'.

Comeraghs Comhaltas, who are hosting the 2012 Munster Fleadh Cheoil are delighted that Kieran is supporting the Fleadh Cheoil in Dungarvan, and are looking forward to a tremendous launch night at the end of the month.

County Fleadh this weekend
Fleadh Cheoil na nDéise, the County Fleadh takes place this weekend in Ballyduff, Kilmeaden. As usual, Comeraghs Comhaltas has a very large contingent of young Musicians taking part in the many competitions. This year, alongside the general pride and delight in winning any medal at the county fleadh, there is the added incentive to win through to a place in the Munster Fleadh Cheoil which of course is all happening on home territory in July. We wish all our lads the best of luck in the Céilí Bands, Grúpaí Cheoil, dancing, singing, cómhrá and individual instrument competitions at the weekend!
